About the meeting
Dear Esteemed Colleagues,
As we gather in the vibrant city of Kigali, Rwanda, for our Congress on "Health in the Movement for Rights and Dignity for Children" I want to extend my warmest greetings to each of you. This event represents a unique opportunity for us to unite our efforts in advocating for the health and well-being of mothers and children worldwide, three years ahead of the SDG target for 2030, in a world that is unfit for children, plagued by a high incidence of mortality and morbidity in low- and middle-income countries.
The theme of our congress underscores the critical importance of inter professional collaboration among healthcare workers. In today’s complex healthcare landscape, it is essential that paediatricians work alongside general practitioners, obstetricians, gynaecologists, nurses, midwives, social workers, psychologists, and other healthcare providers, as well as civil society organisations, foundations, UN agencies, and policymakers, to create a holistic approach to child health. Together, we can ensure that every child receives the comprehensive care they deserve.
Our discussions will focus on continuing medical education (prevention, diagnosis and treatment) based on scientific principles and high-quality research evidence, and the important roles of collaboration in promoting rights and dignity, emphasising how a united front can lead to more effective interventions and policies. Let us share our insights, experiences, and innovations to foster an environment where all healthcare professionals can thrive and contribute to the health of our children.
